Decorating For Halloween With Christmas Lights

!±8± Decorating For Halloween With Christmas Lights

Using Christmas lights to decorate for Halloween are a great way to get extra use out of colored lights you may already have in your attic.  Pull them down and try discount store for more sets to fill in or for more variety in color, spacing, wire color and higher quality, check out online vendors early to find just the perfect sets.

Orange and purple mini light sets - both incandescent and LED versions -  look fantastic when they're draped across shrubs and bushes.  Tree branches and tree trunks will also appear festive yet spooky wrapped with mini lights.  Decorating your yard for Halloween is perfect for the person who would like to leave his or her Christmas lights up for several months but can't  (at least not technically!).

Fog machines are easily obtained online or from your local retail store.  These machines are great for creating a smoky area around the doorway of your home.  Outline your front door with orange and purple mini lights.  They'll look really cool glowing through the smoke!  Rope lights are the perfect choice for creating small or huge spider webs on a black background (a black piece of fabric from your local fabric store works great).

In the yard, use purple mini lights to outline gravestones for an eerie look. Then, use Christmas light stakes to string lights around the graveyard so it looks like a fence.  To welcome your guests, line your sidewalk leading to your home with C7 or C9 transparent lights in orange and/or purple.

Haunted houses are a huge attraction during Halloween.  Some people just love to be scared out of their wits!  If your organization is setting up one of these October traditions, use opaque C7 and C9  or LED C7 and C9 bulbs and cords in purple or orange to cast an eerie glow anywhere you need it inside or outside the haunted house.

Outline coffins, creatures, black holes, dark doorways, or trap doors with our purple, orange or green mini lights.  LED lights have the advantage of staying really cool so if you have alot fabric hanging with your lights, consider going that route.

Accent a plastic witches cauldron with red and orange mini lights that have a built in controller - set them on the slow fade function where they come on and go off very gradually and they'll look like glowing embers if you add a thin layer of black organza to your pot!

There's no limit to your imagination when it comes to using lights to decorate your home inside and out for Halloween.  Just think of what would scare you!

How to Use extension Cords For surface Christmas Lights

!±8± How to Use extension Cords For surface Christmas Lights

End the extension cord nightmare for your surface Christmas lights and decorating. Yep, end that nightmare. All you need are the right extension cords to do your Outdoor Christmas Lighting and you will be looking transmit to decorating for Christmas again next year.

I remember decorating with my mom and using these limited clip on outlets to use outdoors and wrapping every association in plastic wraps and limited baggies...wow we've come a long way!

A Note About Safety...

When purchasing outdoor cords, look for labels marked with Ul or Etl. This means that the stock has been tested by an independent laboratory recognized by the Occupational security and condition supervision (Osha). Be sure the packaging states that it is designated for outdoor use. Outdoor extension cords are weatherproof and designed for use in harsh winter weather. Buy timers to automatically turn lights on and off. Lights should be turned off when population are not present and they should not be left on overnight.

Electrical outlets for surface lighting should adapt three-prong grounded plugs and should be on an electrical circuit protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter (Gfci).

When connecting outdoor lighting, be careful not to have all the cords, plugs and wires that come from the same electrical outlet. One of the many dangers when installing outdoor lighting involve the use of ladders. Use a high-quality, sturdy ladder that is the allowable height. Be sure it is securely positioned. To avoid falls, move the ladder instead of leaning from side to side.

I have several 25 foot extension cords that have 3 outlets on the end that I run from the surface outlets in the back of my yard to bring galvanic into my front yard and also use the surface front outlets. It brings the galvanic out to where you need it. Do not use inside outlets and close the window on the cord...big no no, by doing this can originate a fire and/or damage to your home and window. I also use 25 foot extension cords that have 3 two outlet that are spaced throughout the cord. I love my Christmas extension cords and everyone in my home knows they are off limits. I store all my cords in a bin in my garage marked "Christmas extension Cords"

A great way to associate net lights in your garden is to use a multi outlet stake. You can easily associate your lights through the stake. The stake can plug directly into your surface outlet or through the multi-outlet extension cord. Most stakes come with waterproof covers which eliviate those plastic bags.

Most multi outlet stakes now come with timers or remotes that allow you to turn off your lights at night. Two in One....just makes your decorating that much easier.

By using these great cords, I'm able to have the brightest house on the block during Christmas. Every year I have to promise my dear husband that I won't buy any more Christmas lights or decorations! Somehow I all the time find one that I just have to have. The new Led lights are great...my mission is to replace all my lights with Led..but then again I promised.
